Couples Therapy

Welcome

Every relationship experiences challenges. Whether you are navigating a specific crisis, feeling stuck in recurring conflict, or looking to rebuild intimacy and connection, couples therapy provides a neutral, structured space to work through difficulties together.

My approach is impartial and collaborative. I focus on helping both of you understand each other’s perspectives, communicate more effectively, and find a constructive way forward.

Fees & Session Structure

Session Fee: £110 for an 80 minute session.

Frequency: I can offer flexibility around the duration and frequency of sessions by request, with a minimum requirement of fortnightly sessions. If you opt for fortnightly, I suggest meeting weekly for the first three weeks to build momentum.

Introductory Meeting: I am available to meet you both on Zoom for a free 20 minute consultation prior to our first session. This provides a space for general questions to ensure we are a good fit, rather than serving as a taster session.

Areas of Focus

Couples seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons. I have experience working with:

- Communication challenges and differences

- Neurodivergent/neurodiverse relationships

- Affairs, betrayal, and rebuilding trust

- General relationship dissatisfaction

- How early childhood wounds impact your current relationship

- Navigating recurring arguments and conflict resolution

- Loss of emotional intimacy or feeling disconnected

- Major life transitions (e.g., parenthood, career changes, moving)

Sex and Intimacy

I fully welcome discussions about sex into the therapy room. Sexual challenges are frequently tied to relational challenges and are a vital part of couples work. However, I am not a dedicated, specialised sex therapist. If your challenges are exclusively related to the physical or mechanical aspects of sex, I would encourage you to see a specialist sex therapist.

Key Points

- My Client is the Relationship: I am not here to take sides, act as a referee, or decide who is 'right' or 'wrong'. My role is to help you both understand the dynamics playing out between you.

- Therapy Outcomes: The goal is to find clarity. Often, this means repairing and strengthening your relationship. Sometimes, it means being supported in navigating an amicable and respectful separation.

- When Therapy is Not Appropriate: Couples therapy requires a foundation of physical and emotional safety. It is not suitable if there is ongoing domestic abuse, coercive control, or an active, undisclosed affair. In these instances, specialist individual work is the appropriate starting point, and couples therapy will stop if any of these issues arise.

- Communication Between Sessions: To maintain a neutral and trusting environment, I operate a 'no secrets' policy. Any emails or messages sent to me individually between our appointments will be brought into our next joint session for open discussion.

- Cancellations: I operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full fee.

My Training & Accreditation

I hold the highest level of accreditation with both the UKCP and BACP, the UK's two largest relevant professional bodies.

As my initial five years of formal training focussed primarily on individuals, I am actively expanding my couples qualifications. I have completed the majority of my National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NCIP) accredited couples training programme, which I will fully finish by early 2027 at the latest.

Additionally, I am currently pursuing accreditation with COSRT, the only recognised register specifically for couples therapists in the UK.
